Joseph Wolff (1795-1862) was a Messianic Jewish missionary born in Weilersbach, Germany. His father David was a Rabbi. Joseph left home at 11 and travelled for six years, eventually converting to Catholicism and later training as a missionary at the seminary of the Collegio Romano in Rome. Later in life he became a member of the Church of England. Wolff travelled widely during his lifetime and was known as 'the missionary to the world'. He published several journals of his expeditions, the best known of which is offered here.
