A finely bound example of the 'Pearl Bible', so-named for its small size which made it ideal for carrying in one's pocket, dating to the Interregnum.

The engraved general title depicts Moses and David and the Evangelists, and omits the usual words of the King James Version 'by His Majesty's special command'.

2 vols; 24mo (115 x 60 mm); engraved title-page, ownership note in pen tipped in to front free endpaper of vol. I, pencil notes to endpapers, a little toned; eighteenth-century red morocco, the covers with gilt roll borders of chain-link design, gilt spines in 5 compartments, contrasting black morocco lettering-pieces to 2nd and 3rd compartments, all edges gilt, a little rubbed, overall a near fine example.
