Scarce account of a journey around Cape Horn to Coquimbo, Chile, and back. The author vividly describes the coast of Chile, Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, and the city of Coquimbo as well as the Chilean Andes and Cordillera. Much of the maritime account is taken up with observations of natural history, with the author fascinated by the whales, albatrosses, terns, beluga whales, seals, Portuguese Man-O-War, and divers other animals and wildlife encountered on the journey, as well as several optical illusions seen over the open ocean and a distinct account of the Aurora Borealis.

Scarce, only in 4 UK institutions (BL, Oxford Brookes, Swansea, RGS).

First edition; 8vo (22 x 13 cm); original cloth with paper label to spine, a little bumped, spine professionally restored, bookplate to pastedown, a very good copy; viii, 163pp.
