ASK A QUESTION
Chamber Music was Joyce's first commercially published book after privately produced jeux and an aborted edition of the precursor to Dubliners. Gorman reported there to have been just 509 copies produced and these were split into three distinct issues. The present copy is from the first issue, with laid paper endleaves with the chain lines running horizontally and the text in signature C well centred. The subsequent issues were bound later and turn up not infrequently.

First edition, first impression, first issue binding; small 8vo; mild browning to endpapers as always, two old catalogue descriptions pasted to front free endpaper; publisher's green cloth, titles to upper board and spine gilt, a couple of small marks to boards, slight rubbing to spine tips and corners; very good.
