An early edition of Mathematical Tables, a comprehensive work that covers logarithms from 1 to 101,000.

Three of the four authors (Briggs, then Wallis, then Halley) consecutively held the Savilian Professorship of Geometry, one of the oldest and most prestigious mathematical chairs in Britain. Briggs is known for inventing the common (or, indeed, Briggsian) logarithm, Wallis is credited with the introduction of the infinity symbol, and Halley's most notable achievements came in the field of astronomy, having 'Halley's Comet' named after him.
