RUSSELL, Bertrand.
An Inquiry into Meaning and Truth.
London, George Allen & Unwin, 1940.
The book represents the culmination of a series of lectures Russell gave on 'Language and Fact' at the University of Oxford in 1938, which in turn formed the basis for seminar courses delivered by Russell at the University of Chicago and UCLA over the subsequent two-years prior to publication.
The ownership inscription for an individual attached to the University of Sydney, and the old bookseller's ticket for Dymock's Book Arcade indicate the book was probably signed by Russell whilst on his two-month lecture tour in Australia in 1950.
First edition, first impression; 8vo (22 x 15 cm); signed by the author in pen to front free endpaper, further ownership inscription in pen to same f., old bookseller's ticket to front pastedown, a little toned; publisher's purple cloth, spine lettered in gilt, original typographic dustjacket, price-clipped, extremities a little frayed, very good; 352pp.
