'Baskerville was one of the giants of English typography, introducing a number of innovations, including the eponymous typeface still in use today. His typefaces were finely constructed, his designs simple, and spare, and made great use of white space. He also pioneered the development of fine papers for printing' (Society of Archbishop Justus).
Three works in one volume; 12mo (18 x 11 cm); armorial bookplate to front pastedown, text in two columns, Common Prayer with cancel title, light toning with occasional spots; contemporary red panelled morocco gilt, outer panel single fillet border, inner panel with a foliate and floral border, floral corner pieces, spine gilt in six compartments, raised bands, gilt turn-ins, all edges gilt, very minor wear to extremities, otherwise near fine.
