6 vols, large 8vo (220 x 155 mm); engraved frontispiece portrait of the author to vol. I with beautiful ink gift inscription, dated November 1876 to upper free endpaper, repeated in vol. III, some occasional, one quire split in vol. VI but firm, minor peripheral spotting but in the main, clean and bright; 19th-century half red calf, marbled boards, matching endpapers and edges, spine finely gilt-tooled, black lettering pieces, a little rubbed at extremities, otherwise, very good; lxxvi, 546; 564; 542; 514; 588; 546pp.
