Last week our specialist Tomos Nutt met with Dr Frances Sands, Curator of Drawings & Books at Sir John Soane's Museum in London. Together they examined two books from Sir John Soane, and one concerning the Georgian 'Grand Tours' like those taken by Soane.
Dr Sands and Tomos compared the Shapero copy of Soane’s privately printed work 'Description of the Residence of John Soane, Architect' with Soane’s original watercolours for the book in the Museum’s remarkable South Drawing Room.
