Deineka was a master of Soviet agit-prop art during Stalin's Five Year Plan. He adroitly straddled the line between the Russian avant-garde and Social Realism. He was a prolific illustrator of children's books and Eletromonter, in its treatment of the average electrician as a Socialist hero, may well be his most important work in this field.

Second edition, 8vo (22.1 x 19.2 cm); illustrations throughout by Deineka in colour, some full-page; original printed wrappers, 'printed in Russia' stamp to upper cover, a very good copy.

Provenance

Provenance: Alexander & Susan Girard (exlibris to inside upper wrapper).
