The scarce English translation of Arvieux's work. Arvieux (1635-1702) spent twelve years in the Levant (1653-65), and subsequently acted for the French government on a number of diplomatic missions. This book includes his mission to the Arabs of Mt. Carmel in 1664.

Second English edition; 12mo (17 x 10.5 cm); 5 engraved plates including frontispiece, contemporary ownership inscription to title, small marginal tear to third plate not affecting image; full contemporary speckled calf, spine in six gilt compartments, all edges speckled red, discreet shellf mark to bottom compartment, lettering piece in gilt and corners expertly restored, a near-fine copy; xx, 358, [2] pp.
