First hardback edition of Jellicoe's best-known play, much scarcer than the first paperback edition published two years prior.

The Knack was first performed at the Royal Court in 1962. A major hit, the play was later adapted into a film version, starring Michael Crawford and Rita Tushingham, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

First hardback edition, first impression; 8vo; unmarked internally; publisher's teal cloth, gilt lettering to spine, with the unclipped pictorial dust-jacket, slight tanning to extremities, minor edge-wear, else very good.
