Between 1977 and 2006, Schirmer/Mosel published a series of books with Bernd and Hilla Becher, which chart the decline of heavy industry in Western Europe and the United States. Each presents photographs from a single workgroup or of a particular type of industrial structure.This book includes photographs of half-timbered houses in the industrial region around Siegen, where Bernd Becher grew up. In addition to the photographs, this book includes an index which gives the locations and dates of when the houses were built and the names and professions of the people who commissioned the construction of the buildings.
