A rare photoplay edition published to coincide with the 20th Century Fox film starring Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine, with the dust jacket depicting both actors in a still from the film. This photographic jacket is much rarer than other editions that used a drawing of the stars. Jane Eyre premiered in late December, 1943 in Britain, and in the US in February of 1944, and the script was written in part by Aldous Huxley.Photoplay edition; 8vo; contents toned as expected from wartime paper, bumps affecting the top edges of a few leaves, closed tear to the rear free endpaper; original green cloth, titles to spine and upper board in dark blue, dampstain to tail of spine, cloth a little rubbed at the extremities with some fading along the top edge, a very good copy in the dust jacket with corresponding dampstain, and tape repairs to closed splits along the spine panel; 451pp.
