Lodge was an English academic and novelist becoming a literature professor at the University of Birmingham as well as teaching at other universities across the world. He retired in 1987 to focus on writing full-time, where he penned almost twenty novels and many works of criticism, including The Art of Fiction.
First edition; 8vo (22 x 14.5 cm); a little age-toned (as usual), else clean; publisher's green boards with gilt lettering to spine, original illustrated green dust-jacket, not price-clipped, some creases from jacket's plastic coating to front and rear, though not affecting image or colour vibrancy, spine slightly faded, very good plus; 339pp.
