Samuel Jessurun De Mesquita (1868-1944) was a Dutch-Jewish graphic artist and educator active in the years before the Second World War. His pupils included graphic artist M. C. Escher (1898–1972). During the Nazi occupation he, his wife and their only son perished in concentration camps.
First edition. Two vols, large 4to, (33 x 34 cm); wrappers with original woodcuts by the artist; double pages; edges slightly rubbed. Series 7, Vol. 1 - 36 pp. (signature and old stamps to cover); Series 12, Vol. 1 - 24 pp.
