Doorly was a junior officer on board the Morning, a relief ship used on Scott's Discovery expedition. It was the ship which took a disgruntled Shackleton back to England. 'not only a very interesting, pleasant, and readable firsthand account but also one of the scarcest books on Antarctic exploration.' - Rosove.

This book was a prize from H. M. S. Worcester, a training vessel on which Doorly, along with Commander Evans, trained.

First edition. 8vo, xx, 224pp., frontispiece and 21 illustrations (mainly photographic), near contemporary navy blue polished calf gilt, light wear to extremities, a very good copy.
