A very good copy of Edward Gilliat's historical novel, handsomely bound in full blue calf for the Doncaster Grammar School.

First edition, 8vo (19 x 13.5 cm); prize bookplate to front pastedown, minimal spotting to prelims, otherwise clean internal condition, illustrated frontispiece in red ink with 16 further illustrations throughout; full blue calf, triple gilt fillet border enclosing Doncaster Grammar School armorial in gilt, blind tooled border, spine gilt in 6 compartments, raised bands, with contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, slight discolouration to upper and lower boards, marbled edges and endpapers, gilt inside edges, slight bumping to extremities, a very good copy; 404 pp.
