A charmingly bound set of Shakespeare's works, with numerous illustrations in text.

Isreal Gollancz, noted Shakespeare scholar, first produced his Temple Shakespeare in 1894 in an attempt to make an accurate set of Shakespeare's plays more widely accessible. They utilise the translation of the Cambridge edition, which preserves the original form and meter of the First Folio but modernises the spelling.

Larger Temple edition; 12 vols, 8vo (19 x 14 cm); copiously illustrated with portraits frontispieces, endpapers a little spotted; contemporary half calf, marbled boards and endpapers, gilt spine in six compartments, tope edge gilt, spines a little sunned else a fine set.
