The recipient was Harriet Stonor, the youngest daughter of Greene's long-standing friends Sherman Stonor, 6th Baron Camoys and Jeanne Stonor, Lady Camoys.

First edition, first impression, inscribed by the author; 8vo; unmarked internally except by the author; publisher's green cloth, titles to spine gilt, with the dustjacket; an excellent copy in the lightly spotted dustjacket with some tanning to spine panel.
