A Journey through the Yemen

The scarce fully gilt issue of this account of a journey from Aden to Al Hudaydah together with a history of the country. Almost all copies of this book were issued with the upper cover vignette and lettering in black rather than gilt as here.

The author has divided the book into two separate parts. The first gives details of the history of Yemen and the influences of Islam hereon and the second part traces the author's journey from Aden to Al Hudaydah. The appendix contains a genealogical and chronological tree of the Imams of Sanaa and the pedigree of the reigning Abdali Sultan of Lahej.
