An early settler of Sydney and an avid photographer, Robert Hunt photographed many of the remote areas of Sydney's harbours and coast line. With few roads in place, Hunt mainly explored the bays and coves by boat, often on picnics with friends and family. His combined interests of sailing and photography meant he was one of the earliest to record many parts of the harbours. While many of his photographs were taken on informal outings and are more documentary in nature, from 1859 Hunt sailed with the express purpose of taking photographs, resulting in some of his best work.Albumen print. Good tonal range and in fair condition, pasted on original card.
