Berlin, Hayn, 1865
Back in Prussia, Albrecht published this anonymous account of the military operations and his impressions of the people, landscapes and cities he met on his travels. The fine colour plates mainly portray the costumes of the Caucasian people, as well as uniforms and scenic views of Pyatigorsk, Tbilisi and Baku. The present copy is finely bound by 'Court Bookbinder' W. Collin of Berlin.
First edition, 4to (27 x 20 cm); chromolithographed title with gilt detail, vi, [1], 603 pp., 28 chromolithographed plates (lacking one plate), one black and white plate, two large folding maps at the rear, by Green and printed in colour by Leopold Kraatz, close tears to both maps with some repairs, small water stain to bottom of title, minor scattered foxing; contemporary brown morocco by 'Hofbuchbinder' W. Collin of Berlin, signed as such in gilt, doublures with gilt dentelles and patterned fabric guards, gilt covers, spine in parts with raised bands, title in gilt and fluerons, skilful repairs to spine, a fine example.
