Epstein was born in New York City and moved to Europe in his late teens to study art first in Paris and then in London where he became a focal point for many of the new English artists of the age. His sculptures - several of which are illustrated in this volume, were notable for combining elements of his Polish/Jewish ancestry and his New York roots with the development of English Modernism. This limited issue of his autobiography is an especially impressive publication.

First edition, first impression, limited issue, no. 72 of 100 numbered copies specially bound and signed by the author. Large 8vo. Boards just a little bowed but an exceptional copy of a book more often found in slightly tired condition.
