Rare early edition. A scarce, early edition of Jane Austen's most beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. 'No copy has been traced, but publication is recorded in ECB; Sadleir II 168 lists PP as No. 10 in The Railway Library and type wear suggests that the 1850 issue is a reprint' (Gilson).
First Routledge edition, first printing; 8vo (16.5 x 10.5); ownership inscription in pen to front free endpaper recto, partially erased inscription in crayon to title; contemporary half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting black morocco lettering-piece to spine, top of upper joint cracked with loss to headpiece, but holding, boards a little chipped, extremities rubbed in places; 290pp.
