Winner of the 'lost' Booker Prize. The winner of the so-called 'lost' Booker Prize, a special edition of the Booker Prize awarded after a decisive public vote in 2010 due to books published in 1970 being previously excluded for what would have been their eligible year following a rule alteration. Until 1970 the prize was awarded to books published in the previous year, while from 1971 onwards it was awarded to books published the same year as the award.

Troubles is the first instalment in Farrell's acclaimed 'Empire Trilogy', preceding The Siege of Krishnapur (winner of the 1973 Booker Prize) and The Singapore Grip.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; internally fine; publisher's grey cloth, gilt lettering to spine, corners slightly bumped, with the price-clipped pictorial dust-jacket by Bill Botton, spine slightly tanned, a few chips to spine ends and extremities, slightly rubbed, else very good.
