Horace Waller was associated with Livingstone in the 1850s in the Zambezi. After Stanley succeeded in discovering Livingstone, the journals were given to Waller for publication. Waller himself was well-known for his vigourous anti-slavery campaign.

Tenth thousand; 2 vols in 1, 8vo (22 x 15 cm); 21 full-page plates including frontispieces, 24 further in-text illustrations, 2 folding colour maps, 1 of which large in rear pocket, ownership inscription to front free endpaper; publisher's original gilt pictorial cloth, gilt lettering to spines, inner hinges cracked but holding, spotting to frontispiece and title, a very good copy; xvi, 360, viii, 346 pp.
