One of the more well-known tales by Louis Tracy (1863-1928), author & journalist, creator of a string of works of a quintessentially Edwardian Mystery nature, but also creator of several novels with future war and psi power elements. Occasional collaborator, often under the alias of Gordon Holmes, with the great M.P. Shiel, who (uncredited) assisted him with several detective novels.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; 16pp. advertisement at rear, hinges pulling slightly with some leaves slightly sprung; publisher's dark blue cloth blocked in white to upper cover with vignette portrait, lettered in gilt to spine, a little bumped but really a very good copy.
