Max Pam took these photographs over twenty years, beginning in 1969, as he travelled throughout the Middle East and the Far East. At a time when global perspectives were changing but Western-centric representations of the East were still pervasive, Going East presents his photographs of the various cultures, people, and landscapes he encountered, reflecting his experience of engaging with them as an outsider.
First edition, presentation copy inscribed on the rear endpaper in black ink; (320 × 236 mm, 12½ x 9¼ in); black-and-white photographs, introduction by Tim Winton, text by Max Pam, both in French and English; beige endpapers, slight discolouration from binders glue at hinge as usual, brown cloth-covered boards, titles stamped to spine and upper side in black, photo-illustrated dust-jacket, printed in yellow and black, fine; 184pp.
