Views of Haddon Hall.

A pleasant work containing twenty-five views of Haddon Hall as it existed in the mid-nineteenth century. Haddon Hall is now known as one of the great ducal mansions almost entirely preserved in its Tudor state, owing to it being passed into the hands of the Manners family, who favoured their home in Belvoir Castle, in the late sixteenth century.

Douglas Morison (1814-1847) was an English painter who achieved some success and was invited to produce some sketches for Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle. He has signed the dedication to the Duke of Rutland, owner of the famous Tudor manor house.

First edition, signed by the author; folio (53 x 37 cm); 25 tinted lithograph plates, lithographed title, lithographed dedication and plate list, subscriber list, touch of waterstaining to the outer margin only of the first half of the plates, title with a couple small marginal tears, very light scattered spotting; contemporary half red morocco, pebbled cloth boards, gilt flat spine, all edges gilt, a little rubbing to spine, upper joint starting to split at foot, otherwise a very good copy.
