The copy of Samuel Gurney (1885-1968), with two letters from the author to him and another from a member of the Balkan section of the Ministry of Intelligence thanking him for lending this book. The letters are all dated during WWII (1940, 1944 etc.) so the acquaintance between the two must have come during Gurney's service.First edition; 8vo (25 x 17 cm); 2 letters from the author tipped in rear, and 1 from the Balkan MOI tipped to first blank, bookplates to pastedown, numerous photographic portrait plates including the frontispiece, some by the author; publisher's original red cloth, gilt to upper board and spine, a fine copy.
