The half-title is inscribed thus: 'To Winifred who does not require the "words" of wisdom of the Hodja but appreciates the words of love. With much love from A Ramsay. London 30/11/1914. Borrowed from Winifred and given to the Rev. Dr. R. ?? A, R.'

Veniamin Pavlovich Bielkin, including frontispiece, scattered light foxing, hinges cracked but holding; publisher's brown pictorial leather with silhouette of minarets against a night sky, gilt letting to spine and upper cover, binding slightly worn, top edge gilt, others uncut, a good copy overall.
