A scarce and attractive view from the river. The plates from this work were sold individually as well as in sets. The aquatint process used was novel in that a grey wash was used to retouch the plates.
Original hand-coloured aquatint, large paper example, 54 x 65 cm, by W. & Eliz. Ellis after Gardnor, light foxing. Plate I from Views taken on and near the river Rhine, at La Chapelle, and on the river Maese.
