A defence of the East-India Company's monopoly with China, focussing on the tea trade and its comparative differences with that of the opining of Indian textile trade in 1813. Much of the argument for the ending of the China trade monopoly was centred around the cost of tea: the Macartney embassy in 1793 had made plain that the Qing dynasty were not interested in the import of western goods. With the monopoly on tea prices the cost paid by the British person was felt to be astronomical. This pamphlet defends the Company's prices with an investigation into the types of tea available and proclaims that the Company's tea is hand-selected, specially chosen, and of an exceedingly high calibre than one would get with the absence of the Company's oversight.
