First edition, first impression, second state with offending passages replaced with asterisks; 8vo; photographic frontispiece portrait, 7 plates and maps including one double-page, light spotting and offsetting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's red cloth, gilt lettering to spine, cloth a little marked at extremities, errata slip tipped in at p398, publisher's order-form brochure loosely inserted, with the unclipped pictorial dustjacket by Len Lye, slightly toned, vertical crease down centre of spine panel, some rubbing to extremities with a couple of short closed tears, light spotting to front and rear panels, else very good.
