First edition of the winner of the 1993 Booker Prize. Winner of the Booker Prize the year it was published, Roddy Doyle's novel tells the story of a 10-year-old boy, Paddy Clarke, coming of age in North Dublin in 1968. Doyle's structure and language, not organised into chapters but into non-chronological vignettes, vividly evoke the mind of a young boy in flux with his family, religion, and identity.

This first edition with original binding and dustjacket is in very good condition.

First edition; 8vo (22 x 14 cm); red endpapers, light toning throughout; publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, price-clipped dustjacket (reinforced) lettered in red and black with image on upper cover; [vi], 282pp.
