Edward Stanford Ltd, London, 26 Jany. 1885.
Stanford used the base map - his 'Map of London and its environs...' - for a series of maps of the changing political face of London; frequently revised and updated (Hyde identifies 36 different versions), individual maps from the sequence are therefore very scarce.
The 1885 Redistribution of Seats Act laid down the law for the creation of the modern British constituency system, as an adjunct to the Great Reform Act of the previous year.
Lithographic transfer, widest: 643 x 982 mm. Original wash colour, dissected and mounted on linen, folding into the original boards, with printed title label, two catalogue leaves pasted as end-papers.
Hyde, 105, (12): noting only one institutional location.
