New York, Anti-Defamation League of B'nai Birith, September, 1949.
Arnold Forster (born Arnold Fastenberg, 1912-2010), was a prominent attorney. He developed a volunteer, pro bono legal team for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in 1938, and became their Chief Investigator in the early 1940s, following his earlier applications to become a FBI special agent in 1937 and 1939. Forster received unfavorable recommendations because he 'dressed poorly, did not appear resourceful, would probably not develop, and was not mentally alert.' The FBI formally rejected him on October 18, 1939. Forster retired from the ADL in 1979 and moved to private practice.
