Signed first edition of the author's first novel, framed as a series of short entries rather than chapters which explore religion and other topics. In the book, a baboon is stolen from the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Shortly after publication, someone did actually steal a baboon from the zoo.
First edition, first impression, signed by the author; 8vo; unmarked internally, publisher's green cloth spine over black cloth boards, silver lettering to spine, one or two small marks to cloth, green endpapers, with the unclipped pictorial dust-jacket by Charles L. Head, slightly rubbed and soiled, a couple of nicks to corners and spine ends, small repairs to folds, else very good.
