A photo for every moon mission. A group of six original NASA photographs representing the six Apollo lunar landings, with each photograph including an American flag. Printed contemporaneously by NASA's Photography Technology Lab in Houston, and all but one identified by their red serial numbers.
1. 'Buzz Aldrin standing beside the U.S. flag, Apollo 11, July 1969' (From the personal collection of the astronaut Walt Cunningham, with inscription on the bottom 'Man on the Moon (The first time)' (NASA AS11-40-5875). Cunningham was a pilot during the Apollo 7 mission in 1968, the first crewed mission after the tragic fire that killed the Apollo 1 team.
2. Alan Bean, 'Pete Conrad and the U.S. flag, Apollo 12, November 1969' (NASA AS12-47-6897).
3. Edgar Mitchell, 'Alan Shepard and the U.S. Flag Apollo 14, February 1971' (NASA AS14-66-9232).
4. David Scott, 'James Irvin gives a military salute beside the U.S. flag, Apollo 15, August 1971' (NASA AS15-88-11866).
5. Charles Duke, 'John Young jumps and salutes the U.S. flag, Apollo 16, April 1972' (NASA 16-113-18340 but number in margin trimmed off).
6. A close-up view of the U.S. flag deployed on the Moon at the Taurus-Littrow landing site', Apollo 17 (NASA AS17-134-20466).
Chromogenic prints (25.2 x 19.2 cm each), all but one with NASA serial numbers in the margins; mounted, glazed, and framed, two with text on reverse visible; some fading and cockling, very good condition.
