An interesting essay arguing for the continued monopoly of trade by the East-India Company. It cites the South Sea Bubble as a phantom that should not spook the belief in the Company: in 1772 the Company stock price rose significantly, causing a Credit Crisis that would be catastrophic. More than 20 European Banks failed and British debts in India ballooned to £1,200,000.
