The Hound of the Baskervilles is not merely one of the most famous of all Sherlock Holmes novels but also one of the great Edwardian novels. Beloved and well-regarded from its first publication and truly one of the most attractive books ever published, copies that remain in such condition, as in this instance, are very uncommon. A handsome copy of a splendid title.
First edition, first impression, first issue (with 'you' for 'your' on page 13, line 3); 8vo (19 x 13 cm); frontispiece and 15 full-page black and white illustrations by Sidney Paget, mild age-toning, else, near-fine; modern full blue morocco by Bayntun-Riviere, double-line gilt panelled back, original cloth cover bound in at rear, all edges gilt, a near-fine copy; [8], 358, [2]pp.
