This work is based on a Timurid illumination from the Baysunghur period, which the artist carefully copied using traditional Persian painting techniques. While preserving the original composition and decorative structure, the artist added their own calligraphic text in the central medallion:

'The human soul is greater than the whole universe, and this is the secret of its solitude.'

Single illuminated painting on paper, gouache, watercolour, 23 ct. shell gold & Persian ink, heightened in gold, 15 x 22 cm; framed & glazed.
