An inscribed author's presentation copy of Irving Fisher's (1867-1947) work elaborating on his theory of price illusion — that is the idea that consumers tend to mistake the face value of money for its real purchasing power.
Inscribed to the newspaper publisher 'Mr Henry J. Davenport with the compliments of Irving Fisher'. Davenport (1902-1977) would go on to win election to the Eighty-first Congress in 1946 on a Democratic ticket, serving as a representative for Pennsylvania's 29th district.
First edition, third printing; 8vo (19.5 x 13 cm); inscribed by the author in pen to front free endpaper recto, loose author's compliments slip, a little toned; publisher's green cloth lettered in black, spine expertly restored, very good; xv, [1], 245, [1]pp.
