The first edition of this Allan Quatermain (of King Solomon's Mines fame) title, the second in a trilogy by Haggard focussed on the collapse of the Zulu kingdom, and featuring the dwarf Zikali. The UK first in jacket seems uncommonly scarce, and this is a very good example.

First edition; 8vo; colour frontispiece, 2 monotone plates, bookplate, 4pp. advertisements with correct date code 1.13, bookplate; publisher's brown cloth, a little very minor marking, spine ends softened, dust-jacket, price neatly excised from spine, advertisements to lower panel including this title as a 6/- novel.
