The recipient was Marcelle Sibon, Greene's chief French translator with whom he worked from the late 1940s until his death. Presentation copies of this central work in Greene's canon are not common.
First edition, first impression, inscribed by the author; 8vo; unmarked internally; publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine, blue topstain a little faded, spine slightly cocked, with the unclipped dust-jacket, somewhat tanned, a few nicks to extremities, else very good.
