A beautiful presentation set in deluxe velvet binding with Portuguese royal coat-of-arms gilt-stamped to the covers. This edition of Pope's famous poetic essay was translated by Francisco Bento Maria Targini, Viscount of Sao Lorenço, a poet in his own right and a keen student of philosophy.

3 vols, large paper copy, 4to, printed in English & Portuguese, frontispieces and plates on mounted india paper, some browning to and offsetting from plates, silk endpapers, specially bound in full contemporary red velvet with gilt-stamped coat-of-arms of the Royal house of Portugal to covers and morocco lettering pieces on spines, cracking to one hinge but overall an impressive set.
