Presentation copy of this loose verse translation of Euripides' Hippolytus, lengthily inscribed by H.D. to Eric Walter White in pencil to the front free endpaper: 'Dear Woidz : - Don't bother... but the song is in Act II. And would you bring back - I will send for another - that it is "limited" edition and no more here - except one I used for correcting. The song (yours) would be lovely there. H.D.'
First edition, one of 550 copies, inscribed by the author; 8vo; title page printed in red and black with engraved vignette, occasional authorial corrections to text in pencil (pages 12, 16, 27, 103, 110); publisher's black cloth-backed pink patterned boards, gilt lettering to spine, slight bumping to corners and spine ends, spine slightly cocked, boards slightly toned, edges untrimmed, with the original card slipcase, paper title label to spine, some edge-wear, spine and lower panels split at joint, '2 Poems' by H.D. loosely inserted; a very good example.
