Pardoe's work is one of the most popular and attractive of all books on the Bosphorus. This work was obviously planned to take advantage of the great success which The City of the Sultan had achieved. Scarce to find in the original cloth.
Early printing; 4to (28 x 22.5 cm); engraved portrait frontispiece of Pardoe, additional engraved title, engraved map and 78 plates, light scattered foxing; publisher's original gilt pictorial cloth, gilt spine a little faded, all edges gilt, a very good copy; [iv], 164pp.
Atabey 922; cf. Blackmer 1254 (first edition).
