The Caretaker.
London, Methuen & Co Ltd, 1967
Jack MacGowran starred in a 1972 production of The Caretaker, and almost certainly used this copy when preparing for his role; with a few ink notes by MacGowran throughout the text. Laid in is a press clipping from The Irish Press, photographing MacGowran in a 1972 production of The Caretaker at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. Also present is a telegram from Maureen Potter congratulating MacGowran in his role. MacGowran is best known for his work in various Samuel Beckett plays, one of which earned him an Obie Award.
First edition thus, later printing, inscribed by the author; 8vo; occasional ink annotations and pencil underlining, offsetting to front free endpaper from laid in press clipping, else unmarked internally; publisher's black cloth, silver lettering to spine, with the unclipped pictorial dustjacket, somewhat rubbed and creased, a little dust-soiled; a very good copy in the worn dustjacket.
